Noho Marae (Marae stay-over) this Easter

On Good Friday we are having a Noho Marae or Marae stay-over at Te Rangimārie Marae, on Highway 56, Rangiotu Road. 

Te Rangimārie means Heavenly Peace.  We believe that it is Gods desire for those who love him to learn the amazing history of the Gospel in our region. How the power of the Gospel brought peace to the Māori people of this region.

We will be starting at 11am on Friday 14th April with a Powhiri at Rangiotu Marae and heading home at about 3pm on Saturday 15th April. Come at 10:30am for welcome and instructions. 

Activities will include family games, great times of fellowship, and of course awesome Kai.

Registration cost:
$10 per person
$30 per whānau (family) - two adults and three children, $5 for every extra person after that.
Example:  a whānau of two adults and five children will cost $40

What to bring:
Lunch to share for Friday
One food for supper/cake/ biscuits/fruit/nuts for breaks
One Meat/Bag of chops/Packet bacon/Bag of sausages/mince etc
for Friday night BBQ dinner
Sleeping bag/s/blankets/sheets/pillow
Toiletry items/soap /toothbrush etc
Sports gear/running shoes/shorts etc
Warm clothing/jersey/jacket
Drink Bottle
Your awesome self and whānau

**Updated Need To Know Information**

  • please meet at the Marae carpark at 10.30am on Friday 14/04 for briefing before the pōhiri starts.

  • as the pōhiri is a formal occasion, women and teenage girls should wear a black skirt or dress, and men (including teenagers) should wear long black trousers.

  • if possible, please bring a (small) koha (contribution/gift) to place on the marae by our speaker

  • if you arrive late after the pōhiri starts, please wait quietly on the meeting house veranda – out of view.  During the singing, you may discreetly enter the house. Please do not walk in front of the rows of speakers, but instead, behind those seated on the RIGHT side of the meeting house as you enter.

  • if possible (!!), please bring a small chocolate cake that we can join together into the shape of a cross – for our ‘Chocolate Cross’.
